A Fundraiser and Fun Day consisting of silent auction, 50/50 draw, barbecue, cheering crowd and contenders participating in horse related events is being organized by family and friends on Saturday June 10, 2023 starting at 10:30 am for ALYSSA SELMAN located at the Double Z Arena, southwest of Roseisle Manitoba.

ALYSSA SELMAN is now a single mother of a 12 year old daughter and 15 year old son.
She supported her family as a Professional Jockey at the Assiniboia Downs racetrack located on the outside edge of the city of Winnipeg.
In 2015 Alyssa suffered a traumatic injury during a race when her horse clipped hooves with another, thrusting her to the ground and severing her spinal cord after being crushed by her horse.
Alyssa is now paralyzed from her T5 Vertebrae (breast line) down.
It has been an extremely hard road since then, with many challenges for Alyssa and her family. Fortunately her determination, perseverance, positive outlook, awsome character, wonderful family and friends have all helped her combat these difficult new life challenges. Alyssa has been a great inspiration to many, including myself.
This fundraiser is being organized to help raise funds to enable the purchase of a new wheelchair for Alyssa. After 8 years of use her wheelchair is barely holding together and an absolute necessity for Alyssa to function day to day. Being an extremely petite person at barely over 80 lbs, she requires a special wheelchair that is light enough for her to lift in and out of vehicles by herself.
It is very important for her to maintain as much independence as possible for herself and her children. Basic cost of a new wheelchair is minimum seven thousand dollars and the cost is not covered by any kind of medical coverage here.
Any Chinese Auction contributions or monetary donations will be ever so gratefully appreciated in helping Alyssa reach her goal of acquiring a new wheelchair and any extra for additional aids to help her cope with her disability.
